[1173] "Venerable sir, how many kinds of receiving (paṭiggaha) are not in accordance with the rule (adhammika)?"
"Upāli, there are these five receivings not in accordance with the rule. What five? Something given by the body but not received by the body; something given by the body but not received by something connected to the body; something given by something connected to the body but not received by the body; something given by something connected to the body but not received by something connected to the body; something given by tossing (nissaggiyena) but not received either by the body or by something connected to the body. These, Upāli, are the five receivings not in accordance with the rule.
"Upāli, there are these five receivings in accordance with the rule (dhammika). What five?
