"Upāli, the refusal of further food is evident in five ways. In which five?
1. Eating is evident;
2. Food (bhojana) is evident;
3. [The giver] stands within arm's reach (hatthapāsa);
4. He brings [the food] forward;
5. The refusal is evident.
Upāli, it is in these five ways that the refusal of further food is evident."
