[462] For one engaging in sexual intercourse, of the four failures (vipatti), how many failures do the offences (āpatti) partake of? For one engaging in sexual intercourse, the offences partake of two of the four failures: sometimes failure in virtue (sīlavipatti), sometimes failure in conduct (ācāravipatti). … For one who, out of disrespect, defecates, urinates, or spits in water, of the four failures, how many failures does the offence partake of? For one who, out of disrespect, defecates, urinates, or spits in water, the offence partakes of one of the four failures: failure in conduct. The Section on Failures, the third, is concluded.
