[525] "Where was the saṅghādisesa laid down for a bhikkhunī who, having been defeated in some legal issue (adhikaraṇa), was angry¹, and who did not relinquish [her course] though formally admonished (samanubhāsanā) up to the third time?"
"It was laid down at Sāvatthī."
"Concerning whom?"
"Concerning the bhikkhunī Caṇḍakāḷī."
"On account of what matter?"
"On the matter that the bhikkhunī Caṇḍakāḷī, having been defeated² in some legal issue, angry³ and displeased, spoke thus: 'The bhikkhunīs are followers of favoritism (chanda), the bhikkhunīs are followers of hatred, the bhikkhunīs are followers of delusion, and the bhikkhunīs are followers of fear.'"
On that matter. There is one laying-down (paññatti). Of the six origins of offences (āpattisamuṭṭhāna), it arises through one origin (as in the Dhuranikkhepa [rule]).
