[896] Discipline (vinaya) may be a verdict in the presence (sammukhāvinaya), or it may not be a verdict in the presence; a verdict in the presence is both discipline and a verdict in the presence.
Discipline may be a decision by majority (yebhuyyasikā), or it may not be a decision by majority; a decision by majority is both discipline and a decision by majority.
Discipline may be a verdict of innocence (sativinaya), or it may not be a verdict of innocence; a verdict of innocence is both discipline and a verdict of innocence.
Discipline may be a verdict of past insanity (amūḷhavinaya), or it may not be a verdict of past insanity; a verdict of past insanity is both discipline and a verdict of past insanity.
