[986] There are five benefits for one who is a master of the Vinaya (vinayadhara): his own aggregate of virtue (sīlakkhandha) is well guarded and well protected; he is a refuge (paṭisaraṇa) for those beset by anxious scruples (kukkucca); he speaks with confidence in the midst of the Saṅgha; he thoroughly refutes opponents, refuting them in accordance with the Dhamma; he is one practicing for the stability of the true Dhamma (saddhamma). There are five illegitimate suspensions of the Pātimokkha (pātimokkhaṭṭhapana). There are five legitimate suspensions of the Pātimokkha. The Fives are finished. The summary thereof (uddāna):
