[12] "Whereas some honorable ascetics and brahmins, while enjoying food given in faith, remain devoted to games that are a basis for heedlessness — that is to say: checkers on a board of eight rows; checkers on a board of ten rows; checkers played in the air; hopscotch; spillikins; games of dice-boards; tip-cat; hand-guessing games (salākahattha); dice; blowing through leaf-pipes; playing with toy plows; turning somersaults; playing with pinwheels; playing with toy measures; playing with toy carts; playing with toy bows; guessing letters; guessing another's thoughts; mimicking deformities — the ascetic Gotama refrains from devotion to such games that are a basis for heedlessness."
Thus indeed, Bhikkhus, might an ordinary person speak when speaking praise of the Tathāgata.
