[120] "Or whereas some honorable ascetics and brahmins, while eating food given in faith, earn their living by such low arts (tiracchānavijjā), by wrong livelihood (micchājīva) — namely: rites of propitiation, rites for the fulfilment of vows, earth rites (bhūmikamma), rites of the earth-house (bhūrikamma), virility rites (vassakamma), impotence rites (vossakamma), rites for building sites, consecrating building sites; ritual rinsing, ritual bathing, offering oblations; administering emetics, administering purgatives, purging upward, purging downward, purging the head; preparing ear-oil, preparing soothing drops for the eyes, nasal treatment, ointments and counter-ointments; practicing eye-surgery, practicing general surgery, treating children; administering root medicines, and binding on and releasing herbal remedies — he abstains from such low arts, from such wrong livelihood. This too pertains to his virtue (sīla).
