[304] "Poṭṭhapāda, I teach the Dhamma also for the abandoning of the mind-made acquisition of a self (attapaṭilābha), such that, when you practice accordingly, defiling states (saṃkilesikā dhammā) will be abandoned, cleansing states (vodāniyā dhammā) will increase, and you will, having realized it for yourselves with direct knowledge (abhiññā) in this very life, enter upon and dwell in the fullness and abundance of wisdom. "Now, Poṭṭhapāda, it might occur to you thus: 'Defiling states will be abandoned, cleansing states will increase, and one will, having realized it for oneself with direct knowledge in this very life, enter upon and dwell in the fullness and abundance of wisdom — but such a dwelling is painful.' But, Poṭṭhapāda, this should not be seen in that way. Defiling states will indeed be abandoned, and cleansing states will increase … and there will be gladness (pāmojja), rapture (pīti), tranquility (passaddhi), mindfulness and clear comprehension, and a pleasant dwelling."
