[233] **"Whoever" (yo pana):** whoever, of whatever sort … **"bhikkhu":** … this one is the **bhikkhu** intended as "bhikkhu" in this sense.
**"Not directly knowing" (anabhijānaṃ):** not knowing, not seeing in himself a wholesome state that is non-existent, unreal, and not to be found, [he claims,] "Wholesome states exist in me."
**"Superhuman state" (uttarimanussadhamma)** means: jhāna, liberation (vimokkha), **concentration (samādhi)**, attainment (samāpatti), knowledge and vision (ñāṇadassana), development of the **path**, realization of fruit, the abandoning of defilements (kilesa), the mind's freedom from the **hindrances (nīvaraṇa)**, delight in an empty dwelling.
**"Pertaining to himself" (attūpanāyika):** either he brings those wholesome states to himself, or he brings himself to those wholesome states.
**"Knowledge (ñāṇa)":** the three **true knowledges** (vijjā).
**"Vision" (dassana):** that which is knowledge is vision; that which is vision is knowledge.
**"Should declare" (samudācareyya):** should announce to a woman or to a man, to a householder or to one gone forth.
**"'Thus I know, thus I see'":** "I know these states; I see these states; and these states exist in me, and I am found in these states."
