[266] Speaking a conscious lie by three modes — [saying:] "I attained (samāpajjiṃ) the first jhāna, I attain it, I have attained it; and my mind (citta) is rid of the hindrance of lust (rāga), and my mind is rid of the hindrance of hatred (dosa), and my mind is rid of the hindrance of delusion (moha)" — there is an offense of pārājika: before [speaking] it occurs to him, "I shall speak a lie"; while speaking it occurs to him, "I am speaking a lie"; when he has spoken it occurs to him, "a lie has been spoken by me"; misrepresenting his view, misrepresenting his acceptance, misrepresenting his approval, misrepresenting his state.
The Partial Cycle (khaṇḍacakka) is finished.
