[434] A man sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir, tell the woman named so-and-so, protected by her mother: 'They say you are to become the wife, bought with money, of the man named so-and-so.'" He accepts, inquires, and reports back: an offense entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa). A man sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir, tell the woman named so-and-so, protected by her father …" … "tell the woman protected by her mother and father"; "tell the woman protected by her brother"; "tell the woman protected by her sister"; "tell the woman protected by her relatives"; "tell the woman protected by her clan"; "tell the woman protected by the Dhamma"; "tell the woman under protection (sārakkhā)"; "tell the woman under threat of punishment (saparidaṇḍā): 'They say you are to become the wife, bought with money, of the man named so-and-so.'" He accepts, inquires, and reports back: an offense entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha. The basic terms (nikkhepapadāni).
