[531] A "large dwelling" (mahallaka vihāra) means one that has an owner (sassāmika). A "dwelling" (vihāra) means one that is plastered inside, or plastered outside, or plastered inside and outside. "Should have built" means: he builds it or has it built. "Without having brought bhikkhus to designate the site" means: without having had the site for the dwelling designated by a formal act consisting of a motion and one announcement (ñattidutiya-kamma), he builds it or has it built — in the effort, an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). When one lump [of plaster] has not yet arrived, an offense of grave transgression (thullaccaya). When that lump has arrived, an offense entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa). "Saṅghādisesa": … for that reason too it is called saṅghādisesa.
