[571] "Taking up some point as a mere pretext (lesa)": as to "pretext," there are ten pretexts: the pretext of birth (jātilesa), the pretext of name (nāmalesa), the pretext of clan (gottalesa), the pretext of distinguishing mark (liṅgalesa), the pretext of offence (āpattilesa), the pretext of bowl (pattalesa), the pretext of robe (cīvaralesa), the pretext of preceptor (upajjhāyalesa), the pretext of teacher (ācariyalesa), the pretext of lodging (senāsanalesa).
