[570] How is a legal issue (adhikaraṇa) of the same class (tabbhāgiya) as a legal issue? A legal issue arising from dispute (vivādādhikaraṇa) is of the same class as a legal issue arising from dispute; a legal issue arising from accusation (anuvādādhikaraṇa) is of the same class as a legal issue arising from accusation; a legal issue arising from an offense (āpattādhikaraṇa) may be of the same class as a legal issue arising from an offense, or it may be of a different class (aññabhāgiya).
How is a legal issue arising from an offense of a different class from a legal issue arising from an offense? The pārājika offense of sexual intercourse is of a different class from the pārājika offense of taking what is not given, from the pārājika offense concerning a human being, and from the pārājika offense concerning superhuman states. The pārājika offense of taking what is not given is of a different class from the pārājika offense concerning a human being, from the pārājika offense concerning superhuman states, and from the pārājika offense of sexual intercourse. The pārājika offense concerning a human being is of a different class from the pārājika offense concerning superhuman states, from the pārājika offense of sexual intercourse, and from the pārājika offense of taking what is not given. The pārājika offense concerning superhuman states is of a different class from the pārājika offense of sexual intercourse, from the pārājika offense of taking what is not given, and from the pārājika offense concerning a human being. Thus a legal issue arising from an offense is of a different class from a legal issue arising from an offense.
And how is a legal issue arising from an offense of the same class as a legal issue arising from an offense? The pārājika offense of sexual intercourse is of the same class as the pārājika offense of sexual intercourse; the pārājika offense of taking what is not given is of the same class as the pārājika offense of taking what is not given; the pārājika offense concerning a human being is of the same class as the pārājika offense concerning a human being; the pārājika offense concerning superhuman states is of the same class as the pārājika offense concerning superhuman states. Thus a legal issue arising from an offense is of the same class as a legal issue arising from an offense.
A legal issue arising from business (kiccādhikaraṇa) is of the same class as a legal issue arising from business. Thus a legal issue is of the same class as a legal issue.
