[620] Then the Blessed One, having rebuked the bhikkhus who were followers of Assaji and Punabbasu (Assajipunabbasukā) in many ways and having given a Dhamma talk, addressed Sāriputta and Moggallāna: "Go, you Sāriputtas; having gone to Kiṭāgiri, carry out an act of banishment (pabbājanīyakamma) from Kiṭāgiri against the bhikkhus who are followers of Assaji and Punabbasu. They are your co-resident pupils (saddhivihārika)."
"How, venerable sir, shall we carry out an act of banishment from Kiṭāgiri against the bhikkhus who are followers of Assaji and Punabbasu? Those bhikkhus are fierce and harsh."
"In that case, you Sāriputtas, go together with many bhikkhus."
"Yes, venerable sir," Sāriputta and Moggallāna assented to the Blessed One.
