What five? Here, householders, an immoral person, one who has failed in virtue, incurs great loss of wealth as a consequence of negligence. This is the first danger for an immoral person through failure in virtue. Furthermore, householders, of an immoral person, one who has failed in virtue, an evil report of his repute spreads abroad. This is the second danger for an immoral person through failure in virtue. Furthermore, householders, an immoral person, one who has failed in virtue, approaches whatever assembly he approaches—whether an assembly of khattiyas, an assembly of brahmins, an assembly of householders, or an assembly of ascetics—without confidence, abashed. This is the third danger for an immoral person through failure in virtue. Furthermore, householders, an immoral person, one who has failed in virtue, dies confused. This is the fourth danger for an immoral person through failure in virtue. Furthermore, householders, an immoral person, one who has failed in virtue, with the breaking up of the body, after death, is reborn in a state of deprivation, a bad destination, a place of ruin, hell. This is the fifth danger for an immoral person through failure in virtue. These, householders, are the five dangers for an immoral person through failure in virtue."
