[41] Brahmin, this thought occurred to me: 'Whatever ascetics or brahmins who are lazy and of inferior energy (vīriya) resort to secluded lodgings in forests and remote woodlands—because of the defect of their laziness and inferior energy, those worthy ascetics and brahmins indeed summon unwholesome fear and dread. But I do not resort to secluded lodgings in forests and remote woodlands lazy and of inferior energy: I am one whose energy is aroused. Whatever noble ones with aroused energy resort to secluded lodgings in forests and remote woodlands, I am one of them.' Brahmin, clearly seeing in myself this state of aroused energy, I settled into still greater ease for dwelling in the forest.
