[43] Brahmin, this thought occurred to me: 'Whatever ascetics or brahmins, unconcentrated (asamāhita), with wandering minds (vibbhantacitta), resort to secluded lodgings in remote forests and wildernesses—those worthy ascetics and brahmins, owing to the fault of being unconcentrated and having wandering minds, call up unwholesome fear and dread. But I do not resort to secluded lodgings in remote forests and wildernesses unconcentrated, with a wandering mind; I am accomplished in concentration (samādhi). I am one of those noble ones who, accomplished in concentration, resort to secluded lodgings in remote forests and wildernesses.' Brahmin, seeing in myself this accomplishment in concentration, I attained even greater ease for dwelling in the forest.
