[377] "What do you think, Udāyī? A mass of fire in the blinding darkness of night, or the morning star (osadhitārakā) in the clear, cloudless sky at the time approaching dawn — of these two splendors, which splendor is the more excellent and the more sublime?" "Venerable sir, the morning star in the clear, cloudless sky at the time approaching dawn — this, of these two splendors, is the more excellent and the more sublime."
