[376] "What do you think, Udāyī? An oil lamp in the blinding darkness of night, or a great mass of fire in the blinding darkness of night — of these two splendors (vaṇṇa), which splendor is the more excellent and the more sublime?" "Venerable sir, of these two splendors, the great mass of fire in the blinding darkness of night is both the more excellent and the more sublime."
