[394] "What do you think, Kaccāna? An oil lamp in the blinding darkness of night, or a great mass of fire in the blinding darkness of night — of these two splendors (vaṇṇa), which splendor is more excellent and more sublime?" "Worthy Gotama, the great mass of fire in the blinding darkness of night — of these two splendors, this is the more excellent and the more sublime."
