Cūḷapuṇṇamasutta

Suttapiṭaka · Majjhimanikāya · Vol. 14 · Section 137

[137] "And how, bhikkhus, is an untrue person (asappurisa) one whose speech is that of an untrue person? Here, bhikkhus, an untrue person is a speaker of falsehood (musāvādī), a speaker of divisive speech (pisuṇavāco), a speaker of harsh speech (pharusavāco), and an idle chatterer (samphappalāpī). Thus indeed, bhikkhus, an untrue person is one whose speech is that of an untrue person."
