[762] "But if, Puṇṇa, the people of Sunāparanta deprive you of life with a sharp knife, what then, Puṇṇa, will you think there?"
"If, venerable sir, the people of Sunāparanta deprive me of life with a sharp knife, I shall think there thus: 'There are disciples of the Blessed One who, being distressed by, ashamed of, and disgusted with the body and with life, seek for an instrument to take life (satthahāraka); and this instrument to take life I have obtained without even seeking it.' Thus it will be for me here, Blessed One; thus it will be for me here, Sublime One (Sugata)."
