[116] "But if, Puṇṇa, the people of Sunāparanta deprive you of life with a sharp knife, what then will you think of that, Puṇṇa?"
"If, venerable sir, the people of Sunāparanta deprive me of life with a sharp knife, then I shall think thus: 'There are disciples of that Blessed One who, being distressed by, ashamed of, and disgusted with the body and with life, seek an assassin (satthahāraka); now this very assassin, the one sought for, I have obtained.' So it will be for me in that case, Blessed One; so it will be for me in that case, Sublime One (Sugata)."
"Good, good, Puṇṇa! Endowed with such taming and peace (damūpasama), you will learn to dwell in the Sunāparanta country. Now, Puṇṇa, it is time for you to do as you think fit."
