[349] "And how is it, bhikkhus, that dependent on the diversity of elements (dhātu) there arises the diversity of perceptions … that dependent on the diversity of searches there arises … the diversity of gains? "Dependent on the form element (rūpadhātu), bhikkhus, there arises perception of form (rūpasaññā); dependent on perception of form there arises intention regarding form (rūpasaṅkappa); dependent on intention regarding form there arises form-contact (rūpasamphassa); dependent on form-contact there arises feeling (vedanā) born of form-contact; dependent on feeling born of form-contact there arises desire for form (rūpacchanda); dependent on desire for form there arises fever for form (rūpapariḷāha); dependent on fever for form there arises the search for form (rūpapariyesanā); dependent on the search for form there arises the gain of form (rūpalābha). … "Dependent on the mind-object element (dhammadhātu) there arises perception of mind-objects (dhammasaññā); dependent on perception of mind-objects there arises intention regarding mind-objects (dhammasaṅkappa); dependent on intention regarding mind-objects there arises mind-object-contact (dhammasamphassa); dependent on mind-object-contact there arises feeling born of mind-object-contact; dependent on feeling born of mind-object-contact there arises desire for mind-objects (dhammacchanda); dependent on desire for mind-objects there arises fever for mind-objects (dhammapariḷāha); dependent on fever for mind-objects there arises the search for mind-objects (dhammapariyesanā); dependent on the search for mind-objects there arises the gain of mind-objects (dhammalābha). "It is in this way, bhikkhus, that dependent on the diversity of elements there arises the diversity of perceptions; dependent on the diversity of perceptions there arises … ; dependent on the diversity of searches there arises the diversity of gains."
