[339] He was dwelling at Sāvatthī ... There the Blessed One ... "Bhikkhus, in dependence on the diversity of elements (dhātu) there arises the diversity of contacts (phassa); in dependence on the diversity of contacts there arises the diversity of feelings (vedanā). And what, bhikkhus, is the diversity of elements? The eye element (cakkhudhātu) ... the mind element (manodhātu). This, bhikkhus, is called the diversity of elements."
