[407] Bhikkhus, there are these six tranquilities (passaddhi). For one who has attained the first jhāna, speech is tranquilized. For one who has attained the second jhāna, thought and examination (vitakka-vicāra) are tranquilized. For one who has attained the third jhāna, rapture is tranquilized. For one who has attained the fourth jhāna, in-breathing and out-breathing are tranquilized. For one who has attained the cessation of perception and feeling (saññāvedayitanirodha), perception and feeling (vedanā) are tranquilized. For a bhikkhu whose taints (āsava) are destroyed, lust is tranquilized, hatred is tranquilized, delusion is tranquilized.
The seventh.
