[1108] Bhikkhus, these four bases of spiritual power (iddhipāda), when developed and cultivated, lead to going from the not-shore (apārā) to the far shore (pāraṃ). What four? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops the basis of spiritual power that possesses concentration (samādhi) due to desire (chanda) and volitional formations of striving (padhānasaṅkhāra). He develops the basis of spiritual power that possesses concentration due to energy (vīriya) and volitional formations of striving. He develops the basis of spiritual power that possesses concentration due to mind (citta) and volitional formations of striving. He develops the basis of spiritual power that possesses concentration due to investigation (vīmaṃsā) and volitional formations of striving. These, bhikkhus, are the four bases of spiritual power which, when developed and cultivated, lead to going from the not-shore to the far shore.
