[1361] Ānanda, on whatever occasion a bhikkhu trains thus: "Contemplating impermanence (anicca), I shall breathe in" … "Contemplating dispassion (virāga)" … "Contemplating cessation" … he trains thus: "Contemplating relinquishment (paṭinissagga), I shall breathe in"; he trains thus: "Contemplating relinquishment, I shall breathe out" — on that occasion, Ānanda, the bhikkhu dwells contemplating dhammas in dhammas, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. Having seen with wisdom (paññā) the abandoning of that covetousness and grief, he watches over it well with equanimity. Therefore, Ānanda, on that occasion the bhikkhu dwells contemplating dhammas in dhammas, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world.
