[1399] Then the Venerable Ānanda approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he sat down to one side. As the Venerable Ānanda was sitting to one side, the Blessed One said this to him: "Is there, Ānanda, one dhamma which, when developed and cultivated, fulfills four dhammas; four dhammas which, when developed and cultivated, fulfill seven dhammas; and seven dhammas which, when developed and cultivated, fulfill two dhammas?"
"Venerable sir, our dhammas are rooted in the Blessed One …"
"There is, Ānanda, one dhamma which, when developed and cultivated, fulfills four dhammas; four dhammas which, when developed and cultivated, fulfill seven dhammas; and seven dhammas which, when developed and cultivated, fulfill two dhammas."
