[542] "And what, bhikkhus, is the non-nourishment (anāhāra) for the arising of the unarisen energy factor of awakening (vīriya-sambojjhaṅga), or for the development and fulfillment of the arisen energy factor of awakening? There are, bhikkhus, the element (dhātu) of initiative, the element of endeavour, the element of exertion: frequently not directing attention to them — this is the non-nourishment for the arising of the unarisen energy factor of awakening, or for the development and fulfillment of the arisen energy factor of awakening."
