[921] Bhikkhus, those ascetics or brahmins, whoever they may be, who understand as it really is the origin, the passing away, the gratification, the danger, and the escape in regard to these five faculties (indriya) — those ascetics or brahmins, bhikkhus, are considered ascetics among ascetics and considered brahmins among brahmins; and those venerable ones, having realized it for themselves with direct knowledge (abhiññā) in this very life, enter upon and dwell in the goal of asceticism and the goal of brahminhood.
