[996] "Bhikkhus, it is because the four faculties (indriyāni) have been developed and cultivated that a bhikkhu whose taints (āsava) are destroyed declares final knowledge (aññā) thus: 'I understand: Destroyed is birth (jāti), the holy life has been lived, done is what had to be done, there is no more coming to any state of being.'"
