[995] The same setting (nidāna). "Bhikkhus, through the development and frequent cultivation of how many faculties (indriya) does a bhikkhu whose taints (āsava) are destroyed declare final knowledge (aññā), thus: 'I understand: destroyed is birth (jāti), the holy life (brahmacariya) has been lived, what had to be done has been done, there is no more of this state of being'?" "Venerable sir, our teachings are rooted in the Blessed One …"
