[31] There is no offence: if within dawn he rescinds [the determination of the robe] (paccuddharati); if he gives it away; if it is lost; if it is destroyed; if it is burnt; if [another], having snatched it away, takes it; if [another] takes it on trust; if [he is apart from the robe] by the agreement of the bhikkhus (bhikkhusammati); if he is mad; if he is the first offender (ādikammika).
