[380] **"Whoever" (yo pana):** whoever, of whatever sort … **"Bhikkhu":** … this is the bhikkhu intended in this sense as "bhikkhu."
**"Belonging to the Saṅgha" (saṅghika):** a dwelling (vihāra) that has been given to, relinquished to, the Saṅgha.
**"Bedding" (seyyā):** a mattress (bhisi), a floor-protecting cover (cimilikā), an upper cover (uttarattharaṇa), a ground-cover (bhummattharaṇa), a woven mat (taṭṭikā), a piece of hide (cammakhaṇḍa), a sitting-cloth (nisīdana), a sheet (paccattharaṇa), a spread of grass, a spread of leaves.
**"Having spread it":** having spread it oneself.
**"Having had it spread":** having had another spread it.
**"When departing, should neither put it away":** should not put it away oneself.
**"Nor have it put away":** should not have another put it away.
**"Or should go without taking leave":** without taking leave of a bhikkhu, a novice (sāmaṇera), or a monastery attendant (ārāmika) — for one who passes beyond the enclosure of an enclosed monastery, there is an offense of pācittiya; for one who passes beyond the vicinity (upacāra) of an unenclosed monastery, there is an offense of pācittiya.
