[646] When the offense is a grave offense (duṭṭhulla āpatti) and a bhikkhu, perceiving it as a grave offense, conceals it, there is an offense of pācittiya. When the offense is grave and he, being in doubt, conceals it, there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). When the offense is grave and he, perceiving it as not a grave offense, conceals it, there is an offense of dukkaṭa. When he conceals an offense that is not grave, there is an offense of dukkaṭa. When he conceals a transgression (ajjhācāra), whether grave or not grave, of one not fully ordained (anupasampanna), there is an offense of dukkaṭa. When the offense is not grave and he perceives it as a grave offense, there is an offense of dukkaṭa. When the offense is not grave and he is in doubt, there is an offense of dukkaṭa. When the offense is not grave and he perceives it as not a grave offense, there is an offense of dukkaṭa.
