[67] **"Now, [robe-funds] intended for a bhikkhu" (bhikkhuṃ paneva uddissa):** for the benefit of a bhikkhu; having made a bhikkhu the object, they desire to clothe the bhikkhu.
**"Of both" (ubhinnaṃ):** of the two.

**"Robe-fund" (cīvaracetāpana):** silver, gold, gems, pearls, cat's-eye stones, crystal, cloth, thread, or cotton.
**"With these robe-funds":** with those set at hand.

**"Should make a stipulation concerning the robe" (cīvare vikappaṃ āpajjeyya):** "Let it be long, or wide, or close-woven, or fine."
**"With these robe-funds":** with those set at hand.
**"Such or such":** long, or wide, or close-woven, or fine.

**"Clothe [me]" (acchādetha):** may you give.

**"Out of desire for something fine" (kalyāṇakamyataṃ upādāya):** wanting something good, wanting something of great value.
If at his word they purchase [a robe] that is long, or wide, or close-woven, or fine, there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa) in the effort; with the obtaining [of the robe] it becomes subject to forfeiture (nissaggiya). It must be forfeited to the Saṅgha, or to a group, or to an individual.
"And thus, bhikkhus, it should be forfeited …": "Venerable sirs, this robe of mine — obtained by making a stipulation concerning the robe after approaching unrelated householders without being previously invited — is to be forfeited. I forfeit it to the Saṅgha." … "should give [it back]" … "should give [it back]" … "I give [it] to the venerable one."
