[829] Origin at Sāvatthī. Now at that time the bhikkhus of the group of six received almsfood heaped up (thūpīkata) … "'I will receive almsfood level with the rim (samatittika),' — thus is the training to be observed." Almsfood is to be received level with the rim. Whoever out of disrespect receives almsfood heaped up incurs an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). There is no offense: if it is unintentional; if done absent-mindedly; if one does not know; in emergencies; if one is insane; if one is the first offender (ādikammika).
