[835] Origin at Sāvatthī. Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus covered their curry (sūpa) and condiments (byañjana) with rice, out of desire for more. …
"'I will not cover curry or condiments with rice out of desire for more' — thus is the training to be undertaken."
Curry or condiments are not to be covered with rice out of desire for more. Whatever bhikkhu, out of disrespect, covers curry or condiments with rice out of desire for more, commits an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa).
There is no offense: if it is unintentional; if he is absent-minded; if he does not know; if the owners give it having covered it; if it is not out of desire for more; in emergencies; if he is mad; if he is the first offender.
