[299] Bhikkhus, the passing away (kālakiriyā) of two persons is regretted by many people. Of which two? Of the Tathāgata, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One (sammāsambuddha), and of a wheel-turning monarch (cakkavatti). The passing away of these two persons, bhikkhus, is regretted by many people.
