[381] Bhikkhus, behaving wrongly toward two persons, the fool, the incompetent one, the bad person (asappurisa) maintains himself maimed and injured; he is blameworthy and subject to censure by the wise, and he generates much demerit (apuñña). Toward which two? Toward his mother and his father. Bhikkhus, behaving wrongly toward these two persons, the fool, the incompetent one, the bad person maintains himself maimed and injured; he is blameworthy and subject to censure by the wise, and he generates much demerit. Bhikkhus, behaving rightly toward two persons, the wise one, the competent one, the good person (sappurisa) maintains himself unmaimed and uninjured; he is blameless and not subject to censure by the wise, and he generates much merit (puñña). Toward which two? Toward his mother and his father. Bhikkhus, behaving rightly toward these two persons, the wise one, the competent one, the good person maintains himself unmaimed and uninjured; he is blameless and not subject to censure by the wise, and he generates much merit.
