[84] Bhikkhus, one possessed of four qualities is deposited in hell (niraya) as if carried off and placed there. What four? He gives weight to anger, not to the true Dhamma (saddhamma); he gives weight to denigration (makkha), not to the true Dhamma; he gives weight to gain, not to the true Dhamma; he gives weight to honor, not to the true Dhamma. Possessed of these four qualities, bhikkhus, one is deposited in hell as if carried off and placed there.
Bhikkhus, one possessed of four qualities is deposited in heaven (sagga) as if carried off and placed there. What four? He gives weight to the true Dhamma, not to anger; he gives weight to the true Dhamma, not to denigration; he gives weight to the true Dhamma, not to gain; he gives weight to the true Dhamma, not to honor. Possessed of these four qualities, bhikkhus, one is deposited in heaven as if carried off and placed there.
