[110] Bhikkhus, possessing five qualities a **bhikkhu** is fit to resort to remote lodgings in forests and wilderness thickets. Which five? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is virtuous … he trains, having undertaken the training rules; he is of great learning … well penetrated by view; he dwells with energy aroused … strong, of firm exertion, not shirking the burden with regard to wholesome dhammas; he is one who gains at will, without trouble, without difficulty, the four jhānas (jhāna) that pertain to the higher mind and are pleasant abidings in this very life; and with the destruction of the **taints (āsava)**, having realized it for himself with direct knowledge in this very life, he enters and dwells in the taintless liberation of mind, liberation by wisdom. Possessing these five qualities, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is fit to resort to remote lodgings in forests and wilderness thickets.
