[265] Bhikkhus, possessing five qualities, an Ājīvaka is deposited in hell (niraya) as if carried and put there. Which five? He is one who destroys life, one who takes what is not given, one who does not live the celibate life (abrahmacārī), one who speaks falsely, and one who indulges in liquor, wine, and intoxicants that are a basis for heedlessness. Possessing these five qualities, bhikkhus, an Ājīvaka is deposited in hell as if carried and put there.
