[81] Bhikkhus, one possessed of four qualities is deposited in hell (niraya) as if brought and placed there. Of what four? He is one who destroys life (pāṇātipāta), one who takes what is not given (adinnādāna), one who engages in sexual misconduct (kāmesu micchācāra), and one who speaks falsely (musāvāda). Possessed of these four qualities, bhikkhus, one is deposited in hell as if brought and placed there.
Bhikkhus, one possessed of four qualities is deposited in heaven (sagga) as if brought and placed there. Of what four? He is one who abstains from destroying life, abstains from taking what is not given, abstains from sexual misconduct, and abstains from false speech. Possessed of these four qualities, bhikkhus, one is deposited in heaven as if brought and placed there.
