[82] Bhikkhus, one possessing four qualities is deposited in hell (niraya) as if brought and put there. Which four? He is one of false speech (musāvāda), one of malicious speech (pisuṇā vācā), one of harsh speech (pharusā vācā), and one of frivolous talk (samphappalāpa). Possessing these four qualities, bhikkhus, one is deposited in hell as if brought and put there.
Bhikkhus, one possessing four qualities is deposited in heaven (sagga) as if brought and put there. Which four? He abstains from false speech, abstains from malicious speech, abstains from harsh speech, and abstains from frivolous talk. Possessing these four qualities, bhikkhus, one is deposited in heaven as if brought and put there.
