[266] Bhikkhus, possessing five qualities (dhammā), a Nigaṇṭha … a shaven disciple (muṇḍasāvaka) … a matted-hair ascetic (jaṭilaka) … a wanderer (paribbājaka) … a Māgaṇḍika … a Tedaṇḍika … an Āruddhaka … a Gotamaka … a Devadhammika is deposited in hell (niraya) as if carried and placed there. Which five? He is one who destroys life, one who takes what is not given, one who does not live the celibate life, one who speaks falsely, and one who indulges in liquor, wine, and intoxicants that are a basis for heedlessness. Bhikkhus, possessing these five qualities, a Devadhammika is deposited in hell as if carried and placed there.
