[57] Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu possessed of seven qualities might, before long, with the destruction of the taints (āsava), … having realized it, dwell having entered upon it. What seven? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu has faith (saddho), is virtuous (sīlavā), is of great learning (bahussuto), is given to seclusion (paṭisallīno), has aroused energy (āraddhavīriyo), is mindful, and is wise. Bhikkhus, possessed of these seven qualities, a bhikkhu might, before long, with the destruction of the taints, … having realized it, dwell having entered upon it.
